I Am Not an Ape... and Neither Are You

Back in New Jersey, Deanna served as the choir director at our home church for many years. She also put together some special musical programs and even a few drama productions, one of which was based on a Ron Hamilton “Patch the Pirate” script. If memory serves, it was titled The Evolution Revolution, and it basically debunked Darwin’s theory that man evolved from apes… which evolved from birds and reptiles… which evolved from a few microorganisms that crawled out of a primordial soup hundreds of billions of years ago.
In one of the scenes, a science professor was trying to indoctrinate some young students to accept Darwin’s heretical teachings without questioning them. To complete the brainwashing, he had his students wear monkey masks and chant a ditty that went like this…
“Ape men, ape men, ooo, ooo, ooo. We are ape men, true, true, true.”
The professor then asked the class if they believed Darwin’s theory of evolution. Like preprogrammed robots, they responded in unison, “Yes, we believe.”
“But do you really believe?” the professor asked a second time.
“Yes, we REALLY believe,” the students shouted, before starting to scream and shriek like apes, pounding their chests.
My friend, Satan has spent thousands of years trying to trick people into believing a series of lies. One of them is that God didn’t create man in His own image and likeness (see Genesis 1:26), but that we evolved from lower forms of animal life. Of course, that is a lie from the very pit of hell, but that hasn’t prevented millions of people from swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.
It is critically important that we know Who and what we believe so that we can recognize one of Satan’s lies a mile away and reject it immediately.
“For this reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 (BSB)
