Wile E. Coyote and the Devil

“Satan’s delight will turn into Satan’s fright.” – Bob Williamson

Please allow me some poetic license if you would…

Satan has just induced Judas to betray Jesus. Soon, He will be turned over to the Pharisees’ henchmen – the temple guards – and then to Annas and his son-in-law, Caiaphas, the high priest. Eventually, Jesus will stand before the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate. When the Jewish mob chooses Barabbas over Him, the Son of Man and Son of God will be sentenced to death.

Prior to His execution, Jesus will be taunted and tormented by Roman soldiers, scourged and beaten beyond recognition. Then, He will be led to Golgotha, where He will be crucified between two common thieves.

“I’ve got Him now,” you can almost hear Satan saying to himself. “I have finally triumphed over God’s Chosen One and defeated His redemptive plan for all mankind.”

“The last laugh is mine,” Satan says with an evil smile and a demonic sneer.

But he would be wrong, terribly wrong, eternally wrong. Unwittingly, Satan has actually fallen into a trap of his own making… all in accordance with God’s master plan. Within a few short hours, Jesus’ earthly body will give out and He will relinquish His Spirit to His Father’s care. And then, three days later, He will rise triumphantly from the grave, carrying with Him the keys to Death and Hades.

Just like the cartoonish Wile E. Coyote, Satan’s supposedly foolproof plan has blown up in his face. And instead of ascending to heaven’s throne, he will soon descend to the Lake of Fire forever and ever.

Amen and amen!

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” Revelation 5:12 (NKJV)
