Warren Buffet is a Loser

We’ve all seen the bumper sticker that comes straight from the pit of hell: “The one who dies with the most toys wins!” There are two problems with that kind of thinking. First, it is completely and utterly unbiblical, because Jesus clearly taught that (1) personal faith in Him is the only way to heaven, which is the ultimate victory (see John 14:6); and (2) we should store up our treasures in heaven, not on earth (see Matthew 6:19-21).
Second, there will always be someone with more “toys” and more money than you. For example, Warren Buffet, the 93-year-old “Oracle of Omaha” who serves as CEO and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, has amassed a fortune valued at $137 billion. Not exactly “chump change”, right? And yet, Buffet ranks #10 on the list of Bloomberg’s Billionaires. He lags $22 billion behind Bill Gates, $33 billion behind Mark Zuckerberg, $69 billion behind Jeff Bezos, and a staggering $120 billion behind Elon Musk. Following the logic of the aforementioned bumper sticker, Warren Buffet is a loser with a capital “L” and so are the founders of Microsoft, Facebook, and Amazon.
All of which brings a second – and more biblically accurate – bumper sticker to mind. It reads, “I’ve never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul.”
My friend, the only thing you can take to heaven is your soul, those whom you led to saving faith in Christ, and the rewards that await you there. As for money and other worldly goods, I refer you to today’s closing Bible verse (see below).
