Signing Your Own Death Warrant

Friday, February 10, 2023

“Sin virtually committed suicide when it slew the Savior, for His death became its death.” – C.H. Spurgeon

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the leading causes of death in the United States in 2020 were as follows…

1. Heart disease
2. Cancer
3. Covid
4. Accidents
5. Stroke
6. Chronic lower respiratory disease
7. Alzheimer’s
8. Diabetes
9. Influenza and pneumonia
10. Nephritis and nephrosis (kidney disease)

Coming in at #11 was suicide. Tragically, almost 50,000 Americans take their own lives every year. That equates to 137 people every day. Depression, isolation, and feelings of hopelessness escalate until a person mistakenly believes that suicide is the “only way out.”

I guess that is what went through Satan’s head when he thought he had triumphed over Jesus Christ at the cross. Instead, he signed his own death warrant – and that of sin – as Jesus triumphed over death and the grave.

My friend, if you are struggling with despair, depression, or self-loathing, please tell someone ASAP. Don’t bear that burden alone. Most importantly, remember that God loves you more than you can possibly imagine and He has a perfect plan for your life. In fact, He values you so much that He sacrificed His Son so that you might spend eternity with Him in heaven.

Trust Him today… and you’ll not only be forgiven, but you will also never be alone again (Hebrews 13:5).

“I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” Revelation 1:18 (NKJV)

- Rev. Dale M. Glading, President
