Kaiser Wilhelm's Game Warden

“I would rather have God for my banker than all the Rothschilds.” – C.H. Spurgeon

The Rothchild banking dynasty was founded by Mayer Amschel Rothchild in Frankfurt, Germany in the 1760s. He bequeathed his fortune to his five sons, who expanded the family’s financial empire to London, Paris, Vienna, and Naples.

During the 19th century, the Rothchilds possessed the largest private fortune in the world. However, their family wealth declined during the 20th century and was eventually divided among various descendants. Today, their interests still cover a wide range of fields, including financial services, real estate, mining, energy, agriculture, winemaking, and nonprofits.

Although I am half German and my paternal grandmother’s maiden name was Rothfuss, which means “red foot,” I don’t think we are related to the Rothchilds. In fact, the closest that branch of our family got to financial “celebrity status” was an ancestor who reportedly served as a game warden for Kaiser Wilhelm.

Speaking of animals, I do have a relative who owns a lot of livestock as well as vast deposits of gold and silver. I wasn’t born into His family, but I was adopted when I trusted Jesus as my Savior and Lord.

Good news… He’d love to adopt you, too!

“For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.” Psalm 50:10 (NLT)

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the LORD of hosts.” Haggai 2:8 (BSB)
