Guess Who Is Praying For You?

“We little know what we owe to our Savior’s prayers. When we reach the hilltops of heaven and look back upon all the way whereby the Lord our God has led us, how we shall praise Him who, before the eternal throne, undid the mischief that Satan was doing upon earth.” – C.H. Spurgeon

Have you ever sensed or felt that someone was praying for you?

I came to Christ in 1977 but didn’t make Him the Lord of my life until 1982. Through a series of events that involved a Spring Break trip to Florida with my best friend and a group of Christian students from the University of Delaware, I fell in love with Jesus.

Spending 10 days with a bunch of people my age who had a 24/7 relationship with Jesus that gave them a sense of peace and joy as it impacted every area of their lives made such an impression of me that I wanted to experience the same thing.

One of the students that God used that week… and in subsequent months… to draw me ever closer to Him was a Christian young lady named Meredith. She was a relatively quiet girl, but her faith was absolutely contagious. Just spending a few hours in her presence made Jesus come alive to me.

A few weeks after returning from Florida, I had a feeling that I have only experienced once or twice since. I knew, in my spirit, that at that exact moment, Meredith was praying for me. I don’t know how else to explain it.

My friend, the Bible says that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for the saints (Hebrews 1:3 & 7:25). While He was on earth, He prayed constantly for His disciples as a group (see John 17) and also, by individual name (Luke 22:31-32). Not only that, but the Holy Spirit is praying for us even when we lack the capacity or desire to do so ourselves (Romans 8:26).

Yes, my friend, you are THAT important to God!

“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12 (NKJV)
